Eagle Creek

Punch Bowl falls pictured above.

Jacques inspects the rocks in the creek.

We took a hike to a new place called Eagle Creek. It was about an hour and a half to two hours away from the city. We hiked to punch bowl falls and back. We also enjoyed stopping at a stream so I could hunt for fossils...and yes, I found one.Beach party at community night in front of Kailash Ecovillage. There was ice cream, Tanner played music with Brian and Dwight while Jacques and I dug in the new sand pit.

We drove down to Crater Lake on Monday to check out the deepest lake in the U.S. The water was crystal blue and the sky was so clear that we could see for miles!

Jacques being silly...
Sunday afternoon we hiked from Mcleay park up to Pittock Mansion

The back side of the mansion with Jacques walking up the steps... The beautiful view from the top with Mount Hood in the distance. It looks like a floating backdrop but it's real, I promise :)

Multnomah Falls Pt. 2

Here is a picture of our garden. Tanner and Jacques are adding dirt to the potatoes. We are growing peas, brocoli, basil, radishes, potatoes, tomatoes and a pathetic looking spinach. There were several plants in the center that were victim to slug snacks!!! We will probably fill the center in with starts later.
We hiked to the top of Multnomah Falls on Friday.

The top of the falls on the landing. The picture below is looking off the landing down the mountain.

It was over a mile hike to the top with 11 switch backs and we rose a total of 700 ft.!
The top of the falls looking down. You can see the cars in the parking lot on the right side of the picture.

Astoria

A visit to the Maritime Museum helped us learn about the area and how dangerous this part of the water is...it is nicknamed the Graveyard of the Pacific!

We climbed this towering column to get a great view over Astoria. It was covered with murals depicting the Lewis and Clark expedition and overlooks the mouth of the Columbia river

Tanner poses in front of the school filmed in "Kindergarten Cop" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Here is one of the houses where they filmed for "The Goonies". This was Mikey's house and one of the other ones next to it was Data's house.
